Came here for a work dinner, and it was truly an amazing meal! My coworkers had really been hyping it up, but it exceeded my expectations. The starters were what really blew me away -- every item was such a hit. We got the Crab Dip, Hummus, and Roasted Cauliflower and they were incredible. The Crap Dip is an absolute must-order dish! As for entrees, I opted for the Catfish Plate. The catfish was delicious and perfectly crispy, and I really enjoyed both the collared greens and sweet potatoes. They did not skimp on the portions! The restaurant is a bit more upscale and chic but still as a down-to-earth quality to it. It's actually a very large space, though we sat at a larger table near the bar. Servers were fantastic and attentive throughout our meal!

I was recommended this place from a friend and I decided to give it a try. I was nicely greeted by the hostess and seated right away. There was a bar area and lots of tables to sit at. This restaurant is definitely an upscale soul food restaurant. Our waitress came to the table and explained the menu options to us and started off with some honey butter cornbread. They were very small but very good. I ordered the catfish plate which was good. The catfish was well seasoned it came with greens and yams when I asked if I could swap out the greens for mac & cheese I was told that if they were able to do it, but I could order a side of mac & cheese for $10 more on the side. However, the greens and yams were very good. No complaints and the mac & cheese was very cheesy. My friend order the chicken breast plate was she said it was very nicely seasoned and also that meal came with greens and yams. I would return even though I feel like the prices were a little steep, but for the ambience I see what they were trying to do.

Beautiful upstairs restaurant in the heart of downtown detroit. They serve soulfood and I wasnt in the mood for it that day (I went with a group of girls) but im always in the mood for mac & cheese so I ordered that and OMG!! I didnt even get a pic of it because I tore it up immediately. I want to come back for that alone. I also loved the decor & my waitress was amazing. 4/5 for me because soulfood isnt my thing & I wasnt crazy about my drink but the food I did eat was really good.

Each time I visit Detroit, I make it a habit of going to SavannahBlue. It's a fantastic fusion soul food spot. I love the feeling of exclusivity as you walk upstairs to the dining area. Originally launched by the late Tanya Heidelberg-Yopp, her husband Roger Yopp and John Stockton, SavannahBlue stands out as a special place wedged on a quiet side of Times Square near the People Mover. Once you're inside, the good food, drinks and music begin. Roger and John have done a great job embracing the rotating menu with some favorites like shrimp & grits and catfish fritters. I was there yesterday (2/22/2024) and enjoyed the catfish fritters. This is a big deal because I don't particularly care for catfish. The candied sweet potatoes were a vegetable and dessert. It was a delight. As I left, I reminded myself to check out Willow, their new speakeasy with a private, separate entrance behind the building. The vibe, the dim lighting and smooth, grooves are everything. They offer some small bites and a vast drink menu. Both Savannah Blue and Willow are worth the patronage!

Love this place! I came here with some girlfriends and we started with drinks at the bar. The drinks were so good (and strong). I got the ida b wells and I loved how balanced it was. Our bartender was great. Super personable and definitely made the night better. I ordered the jerk burger and truffle fries and wow they were so flavorful! The burger was a bit messy but wow I would definitely recommend. The way the dining area and bar are set up make the space very intimate and great for small groups or a date night. I loved the music too. This is definitely somewhere I would take people from out of town.

Had dinner here while visiting Detroit. I really like the vibe in this place. And the bartender was very friendly and welcoming. I had the fried chicken breast plate, unfortunately they were out of the fish, but none the less the breast was fried to perfection. The greens were on point as well good flavor. The yams were good not great and the corn bread muffin was fuego. I will be back one day for that cat fish lol

Food always perfectly seasoned and the portions Were fair except the chicken, $17 for a few wing dings. Yes I'd purchase again because they were delicious and I can afford to do so. Customer service was friendly and patient. The establishment is always beautiful and clean.

Found this spot thanks to Yelp... Thank you! Located behind the Detroit City Apartments. Reservations recommended, but there is first come, first serve bar seating. We were greeted downstairs before heading home the stairs to the restaurant. Intimate setting. Super cute since it's decorated for Christmas. We started with cocktails - Smokey Robinson and Ida B. Wells. Love the names and the cocktails were yummy. We started with the warm crab dip with crispy wontons. The perfect start to our meal. For dinner, my husband for the seared salmon with shrimp jambalaya and I got the shrimp and grits. The flavors were on point! If you love NOLA, this gave us the food from the city we love. Complimentary cornbread muffins come with dinner too. Those ended up in my belly before I could take a picture. We were too full for dessert, but the bread pudding was recommended. Just means we have to come back soon! Everything was sooo good.
